What is public service law?
(Droit de la fonction publique)
Public service law deals with the relationships between public authorities and their personnel, whether they are civil servants, trainees or individual contractors employed by the State, local authorities, public or private organizations.
This corpus of legislation encompasses the rights and duties of public servants, by regulating their recruitment, their career (remuneration, sick leave, mobility, disciplinary sanction...) but also the termination of employment (dismissal, retirement...).
The public service laws have been recently reunited in a new Public service Code, but this field of law is still regulated by different decrees and jurisprudence.
